Extension Entomologist
Our program is focused on economic entomology issues important in New Mexico particularly in three major crops, alfalfa, cotton and pecan.
In alfalfa we are optimizing biological control of alfalfa weevil throughout New Mexico. The impact of hay on predation farm wide is also being evaluated on research and commercial farms. In cotton we are providing support for pink bollworm and boll weevil eradication, evaluating glandless cotton, predation and microclimate.
Pecan nut casebearer control is being evaluated in terms of cultural and biological control. We are also evaluating the possible transmission of Chagas disease in New Mexico from kissing bugs.
