Mark Marsalis
My Extension and research efforts focus on the sustainable and economical production of forage crops for livestock in New Mexico. The majority of my research has centered on reducing inputs (e.g., water, fertilizers, seed) in irrigated alfalfa, small grains, and corn and forage sorghum silage systems. Other interests include selection and management of perennial grasses for utilization in both livestock and biofuel industries, as well as improved grain production in dryland sorghum and wheat systems. Educational methods such as field days, workshops, demonstrations, and Extension and journal publications are an integral part of my program.
